Senior Pictures At The Whiteside Theater

Ballet senior pictures in Corvallis OR

Meet Holly, a high school senior and dedicated ballerina. During our free senior portrait planning session, we decided that capturing her senior pictures in Corvallis, Oregon, in a vintage theater would be truly magical. With a quick call to our friends at the Whiteside Theater in Corvallis, we made Holly's dream a reality, and our senior picture adventure began.

On the technical side, lighting an entire theater for a photo shoot is no small feat. It takes several high-powered flashes (six, to be exact) hidden throughout the theater to make everything look as it would during a performance. After a mad dash to stash all our flashes, we got down to business.

Photographing a ballerina is serious business. Every jump needs to be at the right height, and every arm, leg, and toe must be in the perfect position. In the ballet world, form is everything. I made sure to respect that by spending extra time ensuring the images reflected Holly's dedication to her craft. A huge thanks to the Whiteside Theater for giving us the time we needed to ensure our images were literally on point.

Next, we thought it would be fun to create ballet images in a place not typically associated with the prim and proper world of ballet. We found an alley in downtown Corvallis with tall buildings and vibrant colors. There, we captured some jumps and more introspective shots, featuring the grungy alley's texture against the soft tutu.

After that, it was time to put away the tutu and start creating senior pictures , that were less Swan Lake and more Vogue magazine. We bounced around downtown Corvallis OR for another hour, having fun, messing around, and capturing Holly's incredibly down-to-earth personality. That truly is the key to perfect senior portraits—don't stress it, have a good time, and most importantly, be yourself.

With the downtown look in the bag, we set out to create images with a more natural vibe. We changed up the outfit and headed down to the riverfront in downtown Corvallis. For these senior pictures, I wanted to spend more time capturing Holly's quieter, more reserved side. We chose a wardrobe with a flowy feel, combined with the soft natural surroundings of the riverfront. Complementing this with gentle poses and soft smiles helped capture the artistic side of Holly's personality.

With flowing dresses, soft smiles, and the beautiful light of a setting sun falling on the city of Corvallis, we continued to create amazing senior portraits until we ran out of light. It was the perfect end to a very fun and super chill senior picture photoshoot.

Holly's senior pictures in Corvallis, Oregon, were an enchanting blend of vintage theater elegance and riverfront serenity, capturing all facets of her personality. Thank you, Holly, for allowing us to be part of this unforgettable experience.
