2016 KRKT Beautiful Baby Contest

Every year our local radio station KRKT FM hosts a Beautiful Baby contest looking for the cutest baby in all of the land.  When they find them they lock the child in a tower until it's hair is long enough for a passerby climb up it and rescue the child.  That is, in fact, how they roll over there.  That's right "Cricket Country" if that's your real name.  I'm on to you and your "Contest"!

O.K. y'all can hold off on that Amber Alert, they don't really lock the winner in a tower.  But I have it on good authority that they encourage children to eat gingerbread houses owned by an ill-tempered old women.

The winner gets a ton of prizes

ACTUALLY, the winner gets a ton of prizes, none of which are made of gingerbread and all of them are awesome! We include a portrait session and print package for the lucky family.  As a sponsor of the Beautiful Baby contest we invite the winner to come dance with an enchanted set of fine china and sing with a handsome candlestick holder while being our guest (see what I did there?) at their very own photo shoot.

This year the winner was a handsome little prince with golden locks and the most beautiful blue eyes you've ever seen.  There is no doubt that this little guy was the fairest in the land.  There is also no doubt that I have completely beaten the enchanted dead horse right in it's fairy tail.  So in the interest of not inducing nausea in my dear readers I'm going to take the "once upon a time" routine and let it go...let it go. This year's winner was adorable and we had a wonderful time working with him. 

We met the Lucht Family at a Bowman Park in Albany.  Bowman Park has beautiful river view and an awesome footbridge that looks like something out of a fairy tale. (Now it all makes sense doesn't it?)  The Lucht family wanted to incorporate Americana in their family portraits and did a wonderful job of choosing wardrobe that spoke to that. 

Mom rocked a simple but stunning denim dress and knocked it out of the park with red cowboy boots.  Dad's flannel print mimicked his son's shirt, really tying the whole look together.  These guys did a fantastic job of paying attention to the details in not only the wardrobe but the props as well.  We had more American flags then you could shake a patriotic stick at and a little red wagon.  If I've said it once I've said it a thousand time times...in portraits the details make the image.  By really paying attention to the details they made the images pop.

Each year the winner receives a portrait spread in MOM Magazine.  For the last 6 years our images of the winners have graced the pages of MOM magazine. If you'd like to see more of the 2016 KRKT FM Beautiful Baby Contest winner you can pick up the August issue. 

And for all of you out there asking the "mirror mirror on the wall" if your child is the fairest of all, never fear.  The KRKT Beautiful Baby contest is a yearly event - we'll see you next year.
