There is no better day at the office than Cake Smash Day!  What's not to love?? I get to take pictures of a cute baby completely obliterating a poor, unsuspecting dessert item.  Now when you want to send a birthday cake to smushville you need to call in a specialist.  Today's specialist in all things smashy is none other that the bruiser of buttercream, the punisher of pastries, the commander of cake clobbering, Mr. Hank the Tank!

Mr. Wallace's Smashed Cake

Then it was time to get to the main event and smash some cake!  Now here's the cool thing I've noticed after doing tons of cake smash sessions.  Instead of plowing into the cake and stuffing their chubby little faces, the first thing they do is share!  Mr. Wallace was no exception.  With a huge grin on his face he offered his mommy the first bite.  
After sharing with mom it was time to get down to the business of some serious cake eating and smashing.  Mr. Man smashed the cake, stuffed his face and squished frosting between every cute little finger and toe.

First Birthday Cake Smash

Mr. Daniel came to us... well actually his mother did because a random baby just walking into our office would be a bit strange.  So Daniel's mom came to our studio looking to do a cake smash and family portrait session combo.  which worked out perfectly because that's what we prefer to do with all cake smash sessions.  Before we introduce the cake we usually take time to shoot a mini family session.  Including family portraits in a cake smash session is a great way to really celebrate the first birthday milestone while documenting you family at that stage in your lives.  We highly encourage at least a few family pictures before the main event.

First Birthday Photo Sessions

We photographed a one-year-old little lady today.  Her mom is a friend of mine, which isn't uncommon.  I love how close we become with the families we "serve". Even if in this case Angie and I were friends long before.


Angie is the proud mommy of four.  At least I think she's proud.  I would be.  I love her kids, and the manners and the expectations that they are growing up with.
