Monster Mash Photo Bash Food Drive: A History

This is our seventh year, we’ve been to all of them, wouldn’t miss it!

Back in 2009 we opened our first studio in Jefferson Oregon and were looking for a way to introduce our new business to the local community.  We wanted to get across to our new client base just how important giving back to our community is to us personally and as a business and came up with the concept of a food drive to serve as our grand opening event.   As luck would have it we had several construction delays and and it pushed our studio’s grand opening date from July to well into October.  While that doesn't sound lucky it truly was a blessing because without those delays the idea of offering our clients free Halloween costume portraits in exchange for a canned food donation may have never occurred to us.  So thanks to massive construction delays and the not so efficient workings of the county permit office the Monster Mash Photo Bash was born.

We opened the doors to Troutman Photography on Oct. 31 2009 with our fingers crossed not knowing if anyone from our little town of 3200 people would even show up.   But within minutes our fears were put to rest as our little studio was flooded with the cutest little goblins you’ve ever seen.  That year about 100 children took part in the first annual Monster Mash Photo Bash and attendance has grown every year since. To date the Monster Mash Photo Bash is our most successful charity event raising hundreds of pounds of food and hundreds of dollars of cash donations annually for local area food banks.  It’s also one of most asked about events we host and has become a tradition for families in the Willamette Valley.
